While on an early evening walk with my golden retriever, I spotted something that's not usually seen around these parts (Annapolis, Maryland): an A-frame home. I grew up in Texas, where everything was built in the past 30 years or so, and my neighborhood consisted of cookie-cutter houses - there wasn't much history in our homes. When I spotted this home, I was compelled to snap a picture of this reminder of the 60's. I also found a few examples of some A-frames in modern times. I'd love to live in one of these someday. Something about them is so uniquely cool.

betsy burnham for lonny
I'm sure you've heard of Lonny magazine, the online-only shelter mag that's been taking the interior design blogosphere by storm. The latest issue just appeared on their website, but one of the things I love the most about Lonny is that its' archives are just as accessible as their current issues. My favorite issue to date is issue three, which features, among other great things, Betsy Burnham. Betsy is an interior designer based out of L.A. who's known for her eclectic interiors that mix vintage with modern into what I describe as "controlled chaos." I love her work! I'm also in the process of reimagining my bedroom and my general living space as I prepare to move to the City, and I would love to recreate a Betsy look for my own. I'm thinking something black, something Asian, and pattern. Lots and lots of pattern.
p.s. I am in love with the Hermes tray. I know it's overdone, but it's still amazing. Would LOVE to know where I can get my hands on one of those.

frank lloyd wright for lego
I would argue that for the average American, it's pretty hard to say the word "architecture" without images of Frank Lloyd Wright's buildings coming to mind. Well, that's my thought process, anyway. I've had the chance to visit a few of his buildings in Chicago and have been to the Guggenheim Museum in New York a few times. I can't get enough of his work. When I found out that Lego is offering build-your-own-Wright-masterpiece kits as part of their new "architecture" line, I was over the moon. Genius! Now you too can bring a little bit of Wright into your home. Not included in the box: a few rainy afternoons' worth of time needed to build.

architectural details: bouchra jarrar
While browsing through Style.com's Fall 2010 couture collections, I came across this breathtaking display from Bouchra Jarrar. The lines are clean, striking, and remind me of the modern minimalist design I love so much. Plus, the pieces are completely wearable.
welcome.
Welcome to my new blog, creative nonsense. I'm into good, clean design in all forms - fashion, art, architecture, interiors, and digital - and this blog will be a showcase for all the things I find particularly striking. I hope you enjoy.
